Flower Delivery

Flower Delivery

Flower delivery is a key service provided by flower shops. Clients often look at their collection of flower arrangements online or in-store. Clients' orders are then delivered to a recipient's address.  Dedicated to granting customer satisfaction, florists make the effort to talk about their needs. They give clients only the most perfect flowers and arrangements. This means seeing to it they last for more than a handful of days. And each and every floral designer knows that attempting to keep flowers fresh is and must be their # 1 priority.

Proper Storage In-Store and Before Delivery

One of the most productive methods to enjoy long-lasting flowers is to keep them cool. It's also wise to place them out of direct light. To make that happen, most, if not all, florists keep at least one fridge cooler in their shop. This keeps their stock of flowers cool and fresh. Others even invest in special storage machines to keep their floral goods at a fresh 36-46° F. Florists also store completed arrangements in a cooler prior to delivery or pick-up. This keeps the flowers in good shape until they reach the client or recipient.

A ton of bigger stores also get cooling vehicles or temperature control tools. With temperatures at 36-46° F, floral orders remain fresh even with long-distance trips. Most flower shops also have same-day delivery in their city and neighboring towns. So, customers can get lovely arrangements for their loved ones in as quickly as a few hours!

Development of Flower Delivery

Along with working their business, florists take orders from customers. They also talk to clients about requests they have for major functions and special occasions. Before the internet, many of the flower shop's customers were walk-ins and cellphone calls. These customers generally needed a single bouquet or arrangement delivered that same day. Today, clients often place large-scale orders or personalized floral arrangements. These are usually unique to events like:

  • a wedding
  • a lavish party
  • holiday bash
  • a commemoration of life.

After receiving their orders, florists make the designs based on the customer's needs. These purchases are then either prepped for pick-up or issued out for delivery.

Who Does the Flower Delivery?

Florists are in charge of creating and putting together floral arrangements for their clients. Flower delivery drivers then grab floral orders at flower shops and deliver them. Flower delivery posts are typically entry-level roles, so no experience is required. But at a minimum, they should hold a valid driver's license and a spotless driving record. Most floral outlets use box trucks to deliver their products to clients. Drivers need to know how to operate and look after these vans. The standard outline of a floral delivery drivers' duties are:

  • Stacking flower arrangements inside the delivery vehicle
  • Looking for any damages informing the florist about any issues
  • Delivering floral arrangements to customers' or their recipients' offices or homes
  • In some cases, getting the recipient's signature as proof of delivery

Other than that, drivers also assist in the store or warehouse. These involve unloading deliveries of flower inventories. They may also help the staff arrange floral products in the stockroom.
