Wilmette is where it all began for the Morning Glory Flower Shop, when it sprung to life over 30 years ago in a small storefront shop on Central Avenue. Located on the North Shore of Chicago, Wilmette is a suburban village located just 14 miles north of Chicago’s downtown district. It is due east of Glenview, and borders Lake Michigan and Evanston.

Unique to Chicago's north shore suburbs, Wilmette is a home-rule community. This means that the Village is governed by a Village President and board of Trustees who are elected at large.  The day-to-day operations of the Village are handled by the Village Manager.

As a small, primarily residential suburb, there's a strong community feel within Wilmette.  The public schools in Wilmette are highly rated, making it an attractive place to settle down for families. Of course, you'll still find a range of amenities, including restaurants, coffee shops, and parks.  In fact, Wilmette's Park District oversees 20 parks, encompassing nearly 200 acres, and 63 acres of lakefront parks.  Facilities include the Community Recreation Center and the Centennial Recreation Complex, with indoor tennis, ice skating, and outdoor pools.

Additionally, Wilmette features the beautiful Gilson Park by Lake Michigan and is home to the world famous Bahá’í Temple. The Bahá’í House of Worship is presently the only one in the United States. The village is also home to the Wilmette Historical Museum, dedicated to encouraging the exploration and appreciation of Wilmette’s past.

Another important aspect of Wilmette is that it is easily accessible by car, bus, bike, and even boat. Metra, Chicago’s premier commuter rail system, makes a convenient stop in the center of one of Wilmette’s most exciting shopping areas. Furthermore, the village is accessible by CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) bus routes and trains running to and from Chicago, the surrounding suburbs, and the airports.
